A clamshell box is a particular form, traditionally used in libraries to protect, preserve, and store manuscripts of the past. I first made them to protect the books that I had constructed. Eventually I began to think about the clamshell box as a metaphor. I built them to contain my inner thoughts, memories, feelings, and ideas. Unlike the traditional form, I opened a side to frame an interior view.  Y 2 U is a series of clamshell boxes intended to be viewed on the wall with a code to be broken.
